My Hunter

I can't believe how fast time flies. My little Hunter turned three on Monday. He is growing so fast and learning so much. He picks up on everything (including the few little naughty things mom says and doesn't want him repeating). He is incredibly smart and blows me away by the intelligent things he says. He loves playing with his friends and toys, He loves his cousins, and babies. He told me when he grows up he wants to be a Doctor, and he will have to study real hard in school. He likes to get bread out of the cupboard, and pretend to pass the sacrament. Every time I turn on the computer he asks me if we are going to blog. He got a new "big boy" bed for his birthday (yes he was still in a crib) and doesn't exactly understand that he has to stay in it all night long. For His birthday party both sides of Hunters family, and some of his friends went to Chuckee Cheese. We had a blast. Hunter teaches me so much about the type of person I am and the kind of mother I want to be. This year has been rough for him, but he is doing great with it. He is an amazing kid, and I love him so much. I am so greatfull for him in my life and don't know what I would do with out him.

TeMpLe SqUaRe

Hunter and I went to Temple Square on Sunday night to see the lights. We got to ride trax, and then walked around the Temple grounds and Main street. The weather was perfect, and we had such a good time. Hunter, Gavin and Trevor play so well together, and have so much fun. As we were leaving Hunter and I had the funniest conversation. He told me his hands were cold, so I put his gloves on then he asked me "where you gloves are mom?" I told him I didn't bring any, he asked me "you hands cold then" I replied "yes". Then he grabbed my hand in between his and started to rub it to warm it up, them he pulled it up to his face and kissed it. He is so thoughtful, and caring. We all joke and call him my protector, he takes such good care of me.

Hunter

Well I guess I named him Hunter for a reason. Those of you who have seen Hunter know he is the size of a four year old. I tell him all the time to stop growing he is my little baby, he tells me "no mom I get bigger so I can go hunting with Grandpa Rod". Well today Grandpa came home from the swan hunt a with a surprise. Hunter was so excited to see the swan, and keeps telling Grandpa he is "bigger already" so he can go.

Night Out!

I was so excited to have a night out with adults, and to get to go to dinner. Most people say lets get together and make plans, then life happens and there is usually no follow through. Well that is because most people don't have Brooke. She always has great ideas to get together, but she actually follows through. We had so much fun. A quick dinner turned into over two hours of hilarious laughs.

Welcome Rustin

After nine long months of waiting, Rustin Action Ricks has finally arrived. He was 6lbs 2.3oz, and 19" long, and perfect in every way. His mom was a champ and did a great job, with the support of his amazing dad. Rustin's Aunts and Grandma live out of state so I am posting all of the pictures so they can see how perfect he is (there were so many I had to make two slides). Congratulations Marc and Heather, he is beautiful.

KiDs BaRn

Yesterday Hunter and I went on a play date to the Kids Barn with my friend Katie and her little boy Tanner. Hunter and Tanner are only a week apart and play so well together. Well the Kids Barn is a big warehouse full of inflatable slides, and obstacles courses. At first both of the boys were a little afraid, but after a few minutes they warmed up to the idea, and LOVED it. It's nice for me to get to visit with other adults, and we have so much fun with Tanner and Katie. Thanks for the fun afternoon.

TheTale of a Two Year Old

I just wanted to share a couple of stories that happened over the last two days. Yesterday was one of those days where you swear if you didn't love your kid so much and it wasn't illegal you would sale him. All of you mom's who have a two year old, or have ever had two year old know what I am talking about. Hunter was doing everything he could think of to drive me crazy. He was having a bad day and making sure I did also. We went to sacrament (late as usual) and 15 minutes in I was ready to take him home, well it didn't get much better from there when he got home he was hitting, kicking and yelling at me. Well being a single mom, I didn't have someone to give him to and take a break, so I put him in his crib (yes he is still in a crib), from there he was yelling and throwing toys, adn jumping in his bed. After about 25 minutes of this he finally fell asleep. When he woke up he was in a better mood and we had a long talk about not hitting, bitting, and kicking. Well later that day Hunter was in Grandpa's room jumping on his bed, and grandpa was wrestling him. Grandpa told him the should pretend to be a sleep, Hunter jumped out of the bed and fell to his knees while telling grandpa they needed to say prayers first. He started "Heavenly Father, bless us to be safe, bless us to be good, bless us not to hit, and bless us not to bite, and bless us um, um, not to kick. Amen." It was so cute I couldn't be mad at him any more, He is trying so hard to be a good boy, even thought some times he tries harder than others.

So then last night about 11:30 I was getting ready to go to bed when he started to scream, I went in to check on him and he told me he had a bad dream. So I picked hom up and took him in my room and let him sleep in my bed for a couple hours. After he had been there a while he shook my arm (waking me up) and said "mommy I afraid" I asked him of what, he said "nothfin" I told him I loved him, he said "lofe you too" leaned over and kissed me. It was the sweetest thing. He is so tender hearted, and loving. I am so lucky to have him. He is amazing.

This week was such a nice week Hunter and I decided to go to the zoo with my aunts, cousins and their kids. The boys always have so much fun together. They loved being outdoors, and watching all the animals. Fall is the best time to go, the animals were all active and moving. Thanks for inviting us Aunt Tina.

We went to the pumpkin patch with our family and picked out pumpkins, then on Sunday night we went to grandma Ann's house to carve them. It was so funny this year Hunter hated the feeling of the pumpkins, and now he knows what it means to "throw up". So last night when we were carving the pumpkins I made him help me scoop out the guts, he put his hand in, pulled it right back out and started to gag. He told me he couldn't do it it he was going to throw up. I told him he had to help me so he continued to gag, drooled a tiny bit, then told me he was "sick, and I made him throw up". What a little stinker!

What the SNOW?

Fall is my favorite season of all. I love the cool air, the change in the color of leaves. I love waking up to a cold morning, and wearing sweat pants to bed. I know this makes me sound like a big geek, but I also love the feeling of back to school time. Well as you can guess I was pretty upset when I woke up Sunday morning to what, that's right, SNOW. Did we even get fall? Where did it go? Well now that it's warming up and I am not so bitter about the whole thing, I decided to post some of the pictures of Hunter. He was so excited about the snow I had to let him play in it for a minute. So now on top of the snow I have some explaining to do to Hunter, because since Christmas last year he has been asking me when Ho Ho is coming. Well I have told him when the snow comes back so will Santa, now he thinks it's time for Santa to come.

YUCK!!!

Today I am officially a mom. Hunter will be three in Dec. That means that I have been a mom for two years 9 months and 18 days, and have not yet had the privilege of cleaning up vomit, until today. I am a nurse so naturally I have cleaned it up before, but not in my own house. I guess I should just count myself lucky that I have not had the experience yet and stop whining about it, but I just wanted to let all the mom's out there who know what I am talking about I feel for you, it sucks!

Fair

Hunter, Kirsten and I went to the fair last night. Hunter loved the animals, but was more interested on the "mess" the animals were leaving behind. Hunter wanted to ride every, and play every game. We had a blast. He asked if we can go back tomorrow

Aqurium

We went to The living planet aquarium. Huntert loved to look at all the fish, but was terrified to touch them. He liked the shark the best, and called every clown fish Nemo. We had so much fin there that when it was time to leave we had a melt down. Aunt Kirsten promised to take Hunter back another day. What would we do without out Aunt Kirstie.

Uncle Matt

We said good bye to Uncle Matt for two whole years. He left for the Canada Toronto mission. We got our first letter from him and he is loving the food and having a great time. Elder Tye if you read this yes we locked your door, and we don't let Hunter play with your stuff.

Summer fun

We have had such a fun summer. It feels like we have camped all summer. First we went to girls camp, then soapstone for my family reunion than to Pete's Hole. On our last trip Hunter's allergies got so bad we had to come home early and rush to insta-care. I was ready to be done camping, but Hunter wanted to go back. He loved the idea of being dirty, and being able to have more freedom. He also loved the fact mom couldn't tell him to come inside.

We are working on potty training. i was not ready for this, but Hunter insists he is. He will tell me when he needs to go, pretty much potty trained him self. I would like to think I am a good mom, but in reality Hunter just likes his "alone time".
